M.A.E. from the University of Northern Iowa in Special Education with an emphasis in consultation
I grew up in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. I, actually, live in the house I grew up in. I am the oldest of three children. My brother and his family live outside of Atlanta, GA, and my sister and her family live in Bethesda, MD. Although we live many miles apart, we get together as often as we can.
I went to UNI for both my B.A. and Master's Degree. I taught special education for 19 years before making the change to general education. I have taught all grades of special education from kindergarten through 8th grade. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade. and 2nd grade in a general education setting. I retired from the Waterloo School District in June after 20 years in the district, with a total of 32 years of teaching.
I have been married to Jeff since 1990. We have twin boys that are 27. Jacob is a high school teacher in Lima, Peru. Lucas is a tool and die maker for Honeywell In Kansas City, Mo. We spend as much time together as we can given our busy schedules and miles between us. In my free time, I enjoy reading mysteries and thrillers and traveling. I am an avid UNI wrestling and men's basketball fan.
I came to St. Patrick first in the new position of Student Success Coach and then moved to kindergartin. Both have been perfect fits for me because of my previous teaching experiences and my love of students and watching them succeed and grow.
