Our official pledge period has ended, and we are enjoying the benefits of the renovations and additions at the church and school. The Archdiocese of Dubuque was supportive of our parish and school project and loaned us the money for the construction. Thanks to parishioners, school families, alumni and their families, and other generous donors, we owe just $247,533 on our $2.8 million project (as of 11/6/18).
Donations are still welcome. Watch our Saint Patrick Next Step 2020 video (above) above and check out our brochure to find out how you can help us pay off the remainder of our loan. View this video to learn more about the construction project and its benefits.
Every gift gets us closer to our goal! Download a pledge/donation form to help. Contact Regena in the Parish Office if you have any questions (firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-266-3523). Let us know if your company will match a donation specifically to our school.
History of the Project
We are excited about the improvements to our classroom, office, kitchen, music, hallway, and Multi-Purpose Room areas.
The majority of the work was completed in 2014. An elevator now serves all floors, and the heating and cooling systems have been upgraded. With the addition of air conditioning, families no longer have to deal with early release on extremely hot days! The Multi-Purpose Room has new carpet, ceiling panels, audio-visual equipment, cabinetry, shelving, and movable furniture that encourages student collaboration and provides comfortable seating for classes and special events. It is used beyond the school day as the headquarters for our before and after school Circle of Care child care program. The addition of windows brings daylight into the space and allows viewing of the playground. New bathrooms were constructed on the main level. The renovation also included updates to the kitchen area and the music and band rooms. A new science lab serves grades 5-8.
The main entrance and office addition on Washington Street opened in January 2015, providing enhanced security, a conference room, more functional office space, and a welcoming entry for all.
Summer of 2015 marked the completion of work in the classrooms (painting, flooring, and new shelving), hallways, and bathrooms on the second and third levels.
The upgrades have prompted other donations and improvements, and our school has grown 10% since the project began. On Wednesday evenings, the school building is used by the Saint Patrick Parish K-Grade 6 Faith Formation program, so even more children are enjoying the benefits of the updated Education Center. Likewise, school students benefit from the new, safer enclosed entrance and gathering space at the church. The project is a wonderful example of a parish and school community working together!
Note: Clover Patch Preschool was extensively renovated in summer 2013. Read more about the project then visit the Preschool section of this website.
