My name is Teresa Sink, and I have been teaching at St. Patrick School for 14 years. Currently, I am a classroom teacher in Unit B (Gr. 3/4). I teach religion, language arts, art, guidance, and math.
I was raised in Cedar Falls, and I’m a proud graduate of St. Patrick School and Columbus Catholic High School in Waterloo. My motivation for teaching in a Catholic School comes from my upbringing. My parents were amazing example of faith in action. As children it was always apparent that my mother and father valued their Catholic faith. One of the many ways this was shown was through the sacrifices, both money and time, that my parents made to send me to Parochial Schools. The message their commitment sent to me was that our lives should be rooted in Christ; in our homes, at school, in our work, and in our play.
I graduated from The University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Elementary Education. I have continued my education through Clarke College and the Archdiocese of Dubuque working on Technology integration in the classroom. During the 08-09 School year I was able to take a class called “Literary Excellence.” I am looking forward to being able to use much of what I learned in my classroom.
I am a member of St. Patrick Parish but usually attend Queen of Peace Parish in Waterloo, which allows me to see my grandparents each week at Mass. I have benefitted from the gospel value focus each year, because it helps me to take a look at my own life and make positive changes. This year’s gospel value of Peace is one of my favorites as I continue to strive for peace within myself. |
