My name is Sandi Maiers, and I have been affiliated with St. Pat’s School for over a dozen years. I teach religion, language arts, art, and speech in Unit D. I teach in a Catholic school for many reasons, but the great kids and supportive parents are what keep me here at St. Pat’s.
Besides my teaching degree, I also have a commercial art degree. I enjoy drawing and painting when I can fit it in and have done some occasional freelance work. I also enjoy reading and writing although during the school year most of my reading and writing is centered on my students’ work, reading essays and then writing comments. Fortunately, I enjoy this as well, watching them grow as writers and authors.
The gospel value from 2006-2007 school year has to be a favorite with me. I think the word ‘service’ epitomizes what Catholic schools are all about. As teachers and parents, we work together toward the same goal. Our service is to continue to mold the child to be the best he or she can be. As teachers we serve the students as professionals and role models. The parents serve us and their children with choosing St. Pat’s and supporting us in our jobs. When we work in unison as teachers and parents, we know we have children who, when they move on, will in turn be of service to the greater community as responsible and productive adults. |
