The units students study are as follows: Animals; Chemical Building Blocks; Cells and Heredity; From Bacteria to Plants; Planetary Science; Gliders; Motorized Vehicles; Disappearing Wetlands | Our program focuses on science inquiry, hands-on learning, cooperative group work, measurement tools, and reflective journaling. Technology is integrated throughout the year in activities that involve research, data organization, word processing and culminating projects. Assessments given to students include projects, portfolios, formal tests, observation, and participation. The benchmarks and standards have been correlated with the objectives for each unit. When a students leaves St. Patrick school they will have been exposed to all the district science benchmarks for Kindergarten through Grade 8. |
