Math

St. Patrick students are assessed on the following standards that correlate with the ten content and process standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
  • Effectively uses a variety of strategies for problem solving
  • Applies number concepts (estimating, place value, fractions, counting)
  • Computes accurately
  • Applies measurement concepts (linear, time, money)
  • Applies geometric concepts (identify, classify, compare shapes)
  • Gathers and records data to make generalizations
  • Uses a variety of mathematical language, symbols, representations.
  • Utilizing the McGraw-Hill Mathematics series for Kindergarten through Grade 6 and Glencoe Applications and Connections series for Grades 7 and 8 students are challenged in the classrooms to problem solve using multiple strategies, communicate and represent their thinking, and make mathematical connections to the world around them. Manipulative, graphic organizers, and formal/informal assessments are also intricate parts of the students' daily instruction.
