Sept. 17 - Monday - School pictures for 3-Day preschool and those who were absent on Thursday


UnityPoint Health Back-to-School Contest: Imagine the Amazing with UnityPoint Health Back-to-School Contest to Bring Big Dreams to Life Vote for St. Patrick Catholic School September 17-30 at

The winning school will win $25,000 to enhance the well-being of students, teachers and/or learning environments. Ten runner-up schools will win $1,000 to invest in a health and wellness need at their school. You may vote as many times as you like, and you may invite your friends and relatives to vote for us too!

Service Opportunity: Students who would like to help at the parish Fall Festival on October 7 need to sign up online at Please help your student choose a time slot if he or she would like to participate. This is a service hour opportunity and they are asked to wear the new school t-shirt. Activities have minimum ages listed next to them and include table runner and bake sale for ages 10+ and also table bussing, pumpkin painting, and games for ages 13+. Mark your calendars to attend the festival and take your family and friends! More info and ticket purchases .

School Pictures: If you did not a get a chance to order pictures Thursday, you may still order them online for up to 48 hours. Go to and enter in school code ID: BN608197Q0.  If you were absent Thursday, you may still get your picture taken on Monday. Please let the office know.


MakerKids After School SIE Club:

Tuesday, Sept. 18 will be the first class for those who have been in contact with Mrs. Steinfadt with an approved project.

Thursday, Sept. 20 will be the first class for t-shirt art for those who have signed up. Students are to bring their own t-shirt.

Walmart Scrip is now available for reload. You must first purchase a physical card from Great Lakes and then you can log into your account and add an additional amount as needed.


SIE (Student Interest Enrichment) brochures are going home this afternoon to the youngest family member in Grades 1-8. SIE is our 'after school clubs' for students in Grades 1-8. Space is limited, so if your student is interested in a class, be sure to send your registration form and fee to school as soon as possible.

Tuesday, September 11, is our first Out-of-Uniform Day for this year. All proceeds will go toward recovery efforts for the tornado victims in Marshalltown. For one dollar, you may wear an out-of-uniform top with appropriate bottoms See Out-of-Uniform Guidelines on the Parent Resource tab under Dress Code. With the flag ceremony Tuesday morning, it would be nice to see a lot red, white and blue tops.

We expect you will make wise choices for appropriate clothing. Anything deemed inappropriate will be addressed with the individual that day.

Students need to have tennis shoes for PE.

As always, the choice to be out of uniform is optional, you may wear the school uniform if you wish.

Hungry for Pizza? Buy Godfather's pizza the second Wednesday of every month during the school year from Godfather's Pizza on 1st Street in Cedar Falls. We earn a percentage of sales. Help more by purchasing Scrip and by cutting the fedora off of the box (=$0.25) and sending them to school. Turn in the flyer from your child's class so our school is credited with your purchase. The homeroom that turns in the most flyers wins a pizza party from Godfather's! Check out all our fundraisers under the Parent Resources page/Fundraisers on our website.

The first CPTO meeting of this school year is on Thursday, September 13 at 6:30 in the MPR. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The St. Patrick Church Fall Festival is coming up!  Once again this year we will have classroom baskets available as part of the festival silent auction.  School families are invited to contribute an item or money to one of the following baskets. This is an optional contribution. Please send your contribution in to the school office by September 27th.  If you are donating cash, please note which basket it is toward.

Mrs. Rhomberg has scheduled volunteer nights at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank again this year for St. Patrick School families. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with your family! Please email Mrs. Rhomberg ( if you are interested, she will give you more details.

On Thursday, Sept. 6, there will be a Columbus High School pep assembly for our students in the Dutcher Gym. Students are allowed to wear a St. Patrick Catholic School/Columbus High School t-shirt or a green shirt that day. Students must wear uniform bottoms.

Join Mr. Michalicek at the Stone Soul Picnic on Sunday, September 9. The event is free - your free-will donations support the kids programs at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank - Back Pack lunches and Kid's Cafe.

Tuesday, September 11 will be our first Student Council out of uniform day. Students can be out of uniform for $1. Proceeds will go to the tornado victims in Marshalltown.

Grandparent/Special Friend Mass

  • Kindergarten through eighth grade students are planning a celebration Mass for grandparents or special friends. Cookies and classroom visits to follow Mass.

  • Please note that we are including grades 5-8 in this special day.

  • Invitations have gone out to grandparent/special friend addresses that families provided. Missed this? Call the office and we will provide information you may forward to them. 
  • RSVPs are needed from all grandparents/special friends who plan to attend.

Look for the gold Scrip form going home with your youngest student today. Orders will be placed on Monday, Aug. 27. If you don’t see what you want, check the Great Lakes Website to see if they have it available. Check out our Order Scrip page on our website homepage under Quick Links if you have questions about Scrip. Be sure to Order Godfather Scrip for our first Godfather’s pizza night on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Parents, we love to have you come for lunch anytime, however we ask that you call in your meal reservation by 9:15 am on the day you wish to eat with your student.  That way we can make sure enough meals are prepared for the day.


There will be a band instrument display night on Tuesday, September 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the MPR for all Gr. 5 students interested in joining the band. If you are a Gr. 6-8 student not in band and are thinking about joining, this would be a good night to check it out. Students can try different instruments and parents will learn about renting our buying an instrument.

Sports Information

Just a reminder that Girls Volleyball teams will start practicing on Monday August 27th 

On Monday's, Tuesday's, Thursday's , Friday's

5th/6th grade team will practice from 3:30 to 4:45 

7th and 8th Grade Team will practice from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

On Wednesday's everyone will practice from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

Cross Country Practice will begin on Monday August 27th and will practice daily from 3:30 to 4:45 daily.

All student participating need to have all completed paperwork turned in. Must have a completed physical form, a concussion form, and a St. Patrick Athletic

Guideline and Participation form.
